A Good Long-Distance Service Plan Makes It Possible For Businesses To Telephone New Jersey, And Other Northeastern States, At Lower Rates

During one of the more chaotic days for my business, I needed to telephone New Jersey and speak with one of my longtime clients. We had spent weeks coordinating our calendars, as I live in the state of Arizona. The negotiations were going quite well when, all of a sudden, I dropped the call! I was upset because the longer I stayed off this call, the more money I lost. Well, I learned my lesson about communications services that day.

Entrepreneurs need to be mindful of how important it is to distinguish between residential telephone service and business solutions. Residential service plans do not always include common features like voicemail, call forwarding or three-way calling. Furthermore, a residential service plan isn't always going to include long-distance calling coverage. If you don't believe me, just try and make a long distance call from your personal land line. To test my hypothesis, you could even try to telephone New Jersey. I'm just being facetious, but I do want to make sure that you take the time to understand what is covered under your service plan, before you lock yourself into a several-year contract.

You also need to be cognizant of the fact that a digital telephone can interfere with your cable television and Internet services, because they are all sharing the same bandwidth. This is exactly what happened to me, because I have digital telephone services which run off my cable network. I didn't realize that this was going to be an issue until it was happening. When I called my customer in New Jersey, my Internet speed was incapable of handling both system demands.

I had no idea that this would be a problem when I signed up for my services. Unfortunately, the service rep that sold me the service plan neglected to tell me about this issue. So, my advice to you: make sure that your download and upload speeds are sufficient to support your usage. Had I known this, I wouldn't have been focused solely on price point. Simply put, a little investigation could have saved me tons of time, stress and money. And trust me, this was a hard and expensive lesson learned.

So, the next time I telephone New Jersey, I won't have to worry about an unnecessary service outage. And as for my longtime customer, he is still doing business with my company. However, he finds it much easier to use an instant messaging system.
